How and when is a Texel Rating number put on the website lists?
1. The catamaran belongs to a new class or it is a one-off. a. If the catamaran belongs to a new class, the class regulations have to be studied, to see if they contain the necessary values for a TR calculation. If that is the case, than the maximum values of the length, and sail areas and the minimum value of the weight, mentioned in the regulations, will be used. b. If the class regulations do not give enough data to do the calculation mentioned in 1.1, than 3 or more catamarans of the class have to be measured. The TR calculations then will be made with the maximum values of length and sail area measured and the lowest weight found. c. In all cases where there is only one boat available of a new class or a changed model of an existing class, a one-off or a prototype, the TR calculations have to be made with the measured values of that particular boat. 2. For the calculation of any TR number, a special measurement form has been developed. This measurement sheet and a sheet with drawings is available for you on the website. It can be used for your personal calculations with the data of any new design. Separately, you will find on the website a list with the details of the calculations for all TR numbers. This list can be downloaded too, for checking the TR calculations of any design. 3. As soon as a TR number has been calculated for a class or a one-off, the total sheet on the website will be updated. The one-off with ** in the column meant for it, to show that this design is not a new class (yet). 4. For a catamaran not belonging to a class, with the measurement sheet mentioned in 2, automatically a measurement certificate can be produced. A copy of this certificate is available for the owner. This will be issued by the KNWV in the usual way.
